**BATU PAHAT, Malaysia —** A two-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being attacked by a pack of five dogs outside her grandmother’s house in Kampung Tambak, Sungai Kelambu, Peserai, with doctors placing her in an induced coma after she suffered severe injuries.

## Toddler suffers severe head and facial injuries

The girl, identified as **Nur Haira Watikah Mohammad Hamizi**, was attacked at around **7 a.m.** while outside the house.

The dogs reportedly mauled her, leaving her with serious injuries to her **head and face**. She was rushed to hospital and remains in critical condition, according to reports.

Doctors subsequently placed the toddler in an **induced coma** as she receives intensive medical treatment for her injuries.

## Police launch investigation

Malaysian police have opened investigations into the incident following the attack.

Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the dogs and how the child came to be attacked near her grandmother’s home. Police have reportedly opened **two investigation papers** in connection with the case.

The dogs involved have been described in reports as stray dogs, although authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the attack.

## Community concern over stray dogs

The incident has renewed concern over the presence of roaming dogs in residential areas, particularly where young children may be exposed to potentially dangerous encounters.

For the family, however, the immediate priority remains the toddler’s survival and recovery as she continues to receive treatment in intensive care.
