**SINGAPORE — Mediacorp has emerged as one of the biggest Singapore winners at the Asia Podcast Awards 2026, collecting six honours across true crime, mental health, fiction, radio and podcast innovation — but the bigger story may be how strongly Singapore-based audio creators performed across the entire competition.**

The awards were presented in Jakarta on September 3 during Radiodays Asia, bringing together podcast creators, broadcasters and audio professionals from across Asia and the Pacific.

Mediacorp said its six-award haul included victories for CNA as well as its radio and entertainment brands. The official Asia Podcast Awards winners list independently confirms victories for *Heinous – An Asian True Crime Podcast*, CNA’s *Age of Anxiety*, YES 933’s *Progress Reports*, RIA 897’s *MJ12 Gerun Malam* and CNA Podcasts’ Junaini Johari.

## ‘Heinous’ takes Best Crime Podcast

One of Mediacorp’s biggest successes came from *Heinous – An Asian True Crime Podcast*, a collaboration between Mediacorp and Singapore production company 1Up Media.

The show was named **Best Crime Podcast** in the major-publisher category.

*Heinous* focuses on crimes from across Asia, examining not only what happened but also the circumstances and motivations surrounding individual cases. The podcast is produced by Mediacorp with 1Up Media and continues to release episodes covering cases from around the region.

CNA also reported that *Heinous* received the **2026 RØDE Prize**, an award linked to professional podcast-production equipment.

There is an important verification note: while CNA reported *Heinous* as a RØDE Prize recipient, the Asia Podcast Awards' online winners page was still listing the RØDE Prize winners as “TBA” when checked on September 4\. The Best Crime Podcast victory, however, is directly confirmed by the organiser’s published results.

## CNA’s ‘Age of Anxiety’ wins health and wellness award

CNA’s *Age of Anxiety* took **Best Health and Wellness Podcast**, adding another honour to a project that has already received regional recognition.

The special audio series examines youth mental-health pressures in Singapore through interviews with young people, families and professionals, exploring the social and emotional forces behind the issue.

Earlier in 2026, *Age of Anxiety* also won silver for **Best Use of Audio** at the WAN-IFRA Digital Media Awards Asia, making its latest victory part of a growing awards run for the project.

That makes the podcast more than a one-off awards success. Its recognition at different Asian media competitions suggests that narrative journalism built around difficult social issues is increasingly competing alongside more traditional entertainment-focused audio programming.

## Junaini Johari recognised for podcast innovation

The awards also went beyond individual programmes.

CNA Podcasts’ **Junaini Johari** was named **Podcast Thought Leader/Innovator of the Year** in the major-publisher category.

Her win was confirmed by the Asia Podcast Awards’ official results, placing a Singapore-based podcast executive alongside the creators and hosts recognised across the region.

For Mediacorp, that distinction may be particularly significant.

Winning programme categories rewards individual productions. An innovation award, by contrast, recognises the people shaping how those programmes are developed, distributed and brought to audiences.

As broadcasters compete for listeners who increasingly consume news and entertainment on demand rather than according to traditional radio schedules, that shift in expertise could matter well beyond a single awards season.

## YES 933 and RIA 897 also win

Mediacorp’s Chinese and Malay audio brands also collected major-category victories.

**YES 933 Audio Drama – *Progress Reports*** won **Best Fictional Podcast**, while **RIA 897’s *MJ12 Gerun Malam*** took **Best Radio Show Podcast**.

Both results appear on the organiser’s official winner list.

The range of victories is notable because Mediacorp did not dominate through only one genre.

Its awards stretched from true crime and health journalism to fictional storytelling, radio-to-podcast programming and industry innovation.

That diversity reflects a wider change taking place in broadcasting: radio brands are increasingly treating podcasting as a separate on-demand product rather than simply uploading excerpts of live programming.

## Singapore’s haul was bigger than Mediacorp alone

Mediacorp was not the only Singapore media company celebrating in Jakarta.

**SPH Media won five Asia Podcast Awards on the same day**, according to The Straits Times.

Four went to Money FM 89.3: *Money & Me* won Best Money and Business Podcast, *Xtra Large* won Best New Podcast, *Talk of the Town* captured Best News Podcast and *Sports Minutes* won Best Sport Podcast.

Kiss92’s *Shelf Life with Yumiko* was named Best Interview Podcast.

Taken together, Mediacorp’s six reported prizes and SPH Media’s five mean the two Singapore media groups collected **11 awards between them** at the 2026 event.

That may be the most important takeaway from the night.

Rather than one Singapore programme breaking through internationally, multiple English, Mandarin and Malay productions were recognised across news, sport, business, crime, fiction, health and interview categories.

## Competition came from hundreds of entries

The scale of the competition adds context to those victories.

Radioinfo said **70 finalists** were selected from **several hundred submissions**, with winners spread across 23 categories and major and independent publishing divisions. The 2026 judging panel included podcast and audio-industry professionals from several markets.

The Asia Podcast Awards date back to 2023, when Radioinfo launched the competition to recognise podcast creators, teams and organisations working across the Asian media and marketing landscape.

The awards are open to independent creators as well as radio companies and podcast publishers, with The Straits Times reporting that podcasts made for audiences in Asia or the Pacific can compete regardless of language.

## Why these wins matter

Awards alone do not prove audience growth, commercial success or long-term influence. Those require separate listening, revenue and engagement data.

But the 2026 results do show something measurable: Singapore-produced audio is competing successfully across a unusually broad range of categories.

And that comes as Mediacorp has been accumulating recognition elsewhere.

Just a week before the podcast awards, Mediacorp collected 15 prizes at the ContentAsia Awards in Bangkok, eight of them for CNA. Earlier in 2026, the company was also named Broadcaster of the Year for the second consecutive year at the World Media Festivals in Germany.

Podcasting therefore appears to be becoming another increasingly visible part of Singapore media companies’ regional strategy.

The real test will come after the trophies are handed out: whether those award-winning programmes can convert industry recognition into bigger audiences, stronger listener loyalty and a sustainable business around Asian-made audio.

Because after Singapore broadcasters collected 11 awards in Jakarta, the question is no longer whether local podcasts can compete with the region.

**It is whether Singapore can turn that momentum into a lasting place in Asia’s rapidly evolving audio industry.**
