**PATTAYA, Thailand —** Pattaya Beach has taken on a striking new look as the city's first-ever **Pattaya Sand & Art Festival 2026** transforms the famous shoreline into an open-air showcase of giant sand sculptures, immersive lighting and creative technology.

The five-day festival, running from **August 27 to 31, 2026**, is being held along Pattaya Beach in front of **Central Pattaya** and is open to the public free of charge. Organizers hope the event will offer visitors a new reason to experience one of Thailand's best-known beach destinations—this time through art and culture.

Held under the concept **“From Sand to Art, From Art to a Landmark,”** the festival goes beyond traditional sandcastle displays. The installations combine sand with natural materials and are enhanced by light, sound and modern presentation technology, creating a different experience during the day and after sunset.

### **A Beachside Art Experience With a Thai Identity**

One of the festival's key attractions is its celebration of Thailand's cultural diversity. Sand art installations draw inspiration from **Pattaya and Thailand's four major regions—the North, Northeast, Central and South**—bringing local identity and national culture to the beachfront.

Visitors can also expect live demonstrations and interactive activities, while the evening programme adds illuminated sculptures and sound-and-light presentations that give the beach an entirely different atmosphere after dark. Reports indicate scheduled evening light and sound experiences are among the festival's major attractions.

### **More Than Just a Festival—A New Tourism Push for Pattaya**

The event is part of a wider effort to strengthen Pattaya's image as more than a nightlife destination and position the city as a hub for **creative tourism, arts and lifestyle experiences**.

Preparations for the festival involved Pattaya City, tourism and business organizations, and Central Pattaya, with officials also discussing logistics such as traffic management, safety, medical services, sanitation and waste management ahead of the event.

The festival arrives during a particularly busy period for Pattaya's cultural calendar. The city has also been hosting film and creative events this August, highlighting a broader push to attract visitors through arts, culture and entertainment alongside its traditional tourism appeal.

For tourists and residents, however, there is one important catch: **the first edition of the Pattaya Sand & Art Festival only runs until August 31**.

So for now, one of Thailand's most recognizable beaches is offering a rare sight—**a temporary gallery built from the very sand beneath visitors' feet, illuminated as night falls and destined to disappear when the festival ends.**
