Singapore Airlines to Unveil New First and Business Class Seats on Nov 7 Ahead of 2027 Rollout
Singapore Airlines is preparing to pull back the curtain on its highly anticipated new First Class and Business Class cabins, giving selected frequent flyers an exclusive first look on Nov 7.
The preview will take place at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore, ahead of the planned introduction of the new cabins on the airline’s Airbus A350-900 fleet in the first quarter of 2027.
The unveiling is part of Singapore Airlines’ massive S$1.1 billion programme to upgrade the cabins of 41 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The programme will eventually refresh every cabin class, along with the airline’s inflight entertainment, dining and onboard amenities.
A major upgrade that has been years in the making
SIA originally planned for its next-generation cabin products to debut much earlier, with the new seats initially intended for its upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft.
But repeated delays to the 777-9 programme, followed by supply-chain problems and certification delays affecting the A350 retrofit programme, pushed the timeline back.
The first refurbished A350-900 long-haul aircraft was originally expected to enter service in the second quarter of 2026. SIA subsequently moved the rollout to the first quarter of 2027.
Now, passengers finally have a date for the first major reveal: Nov 7, 2026.
New Business Class comes with more privacy
SIA has previously teased its next-generation long-haul Business Class seat, saying it will feature a more spacious layout and ergonomic design.
Images released by the airline have also shown privacy doors — a feature that has become increasingly popular among premium airlines competing for long-haul passengers.
The exact specifications and complete cabin design have not yet been fully revealed publicly, making the November event particularly significant for frequent flyers.
Industry observers have noted that the new Business Class product is expected to be a substantial change from SIA’s current long-haul Business Class offering, which has been in service in various forms for years.
First Class is coming to SIA’s A350-900ULR
One of the biggest changes will involve SIA’s seven Airbus A350-900 ultra-long-range aircraft.
These planes currently do not have a First Class cabin.
After the upgrade, each will feature:
- 4 First Class seats
- 70 Business Class seats
- 58 Premium Economy seats
The airline’s 34 A350-900 long-haul aircraft, meanwhile, will be configured with:
- 42 Business Class seats
- 24 Premium Economy seats
- 192 Economy Class seats
That means the upgraded long-haul A350s will have five more Economy Class seats than their current configuration, while the ULR aircraft will gain a completely new First Class cabin.
It isn't just about the seats
SIA's makeover extends beyond the premium cabins.
The airline has said the wider programme will introduce refreshed Premium Economy and Economy Class interiors, an updated KrisWorld inflight entertainment system, improved dining and new soft furnishings and amenities.
SIA is also preparing to introduce Starlink satellite-based broadband progressively from 2027, promising faster onboard connectivity on equipped aircraft.
Why the November reveal matters
The airline industry has increasingly turned premium cabins into a competitive battleground, with carriers such as Cathay Pacific and Lufthansa already introducing new-generation Business Class products on existing aircraft rather than waiting for delayed new aircraft deliveries.
SIA's decision to retrofit its existing A350 fleet means the airline can introduce its new cabin concept before the Boeing 777-9 becomes available.
The November event therefore represents more than just a seat unveiling. It is a major attempt by Singapore Airlines to reset its long-haul premium offering after years of development delays.
For passengers, however, there is still one important catch.
Seeing the new seats in November does not mean you can book them immediately.
The actual A350-900 rollout is currently expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals and completion of the retrofit work.
After years of waiting, Singapore Airlines is finally ready to show what comes next.
And the big question now is whether SIA's new cabins will be impressive enough to reclaim the premium-cabin spotlight.
