LUCENA CITY, Philippines — Police operations across CALABARZON resulted in the seizure of more than P13.3 million worth of suspected illegal drugs in just one week, with 228 suspects arrested in 181 anti-drug operations, according to the Police Regional Office IV-A.
The operations were conducted from August 31 to September 6, 2026, covering the region’s five provinces—Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.
According to the latest police figures reported by Inquirer, authorities confiscated a combined 1,922 grams of suspected shabu, 1,973.97 grams of marijuana, and 61.72 grams of high-grade marijuana, or kush.
The total estimated value of the seized substances reached P13,399,056.
Batangas operation accounts for major portion of haul
One of the most significant operations during the week took place in Batangas City, where authorities seized an estimated P8.16 million worth of suspected shabu from two high-value drug suspects during operations conducted on September 1 and 2.
The Batangas seizure represented a substantial portion of the total drug haul recorded across the region during the seven-day period.
The latest figures come as law enforcement agencies continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations against illegal drugs throughout Southern Luzon.
Crackdown follows months of intensified operations
The latest weeklong haul is not an isolated campaign.
During July 2026, CALABARZON police conducted 942 anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the arrest of 1,208 suspected drug personalities and the confiscation of approximately 4,333.59 grams of shabu, 245.58 grams of marijuana and 43.46 grams of marijuana kush.
The total estimated value of the drugs seized in July was P29.56 million, according to figures reported by Pilipino Star Ngayon based on the Police Regional Office IV-A report.
For August, police recorded 1,156 arrests of suspected drug traffickers and confiscated illegal drugs estimated at P19.77 million, according to the September 7 Inquirer report. That was lower than the P29.5-million haul recorded in July.
The numbers show that authorities have maintained sustained anti-drug operations across the region even as monthly seizure totals fluctuate.
Police have also targeted different types of illegal drugs
Recent operations in CALABARZON demonstrate that the campaign is not limited to shabu.
On August 30, PDEA agents and police arrested 14 suspected drug offenders in separate operations in Rizal and Cavite.
In Teresa, Rizal, authorities recovered 100 grams of suspected shabu estimated at P680,000 during a buy-bust operation.
In Imus, Cavite, another operation resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects and the seizure of suspected ecstasy, kush, ketamine and liquid ecstasy, along with drug paraphernalia and mobile phones.
Authorities said the confiscated mobile phones could be subjected to digital examination for possible evidence of drug transactions, while investigations were continuing to determine the source of the drugs and identify other individuals who may be involved.
Broader anti-drug campaign continues
The latest figures are part of a much larger campaign by CALABARZON law enforcement agencies.
According to the Philippine Information Agency, CALABARZON police conducted 8,770 anti-illegal drug operations in 2025, leading to the arrest of 11,391 individuals. Authorities reported confiscating more than 84 kilograms of shabu and 91 kilograms of marijuana, with a combined estimated value of more than P646.3 million.
The PIA report said police credited sustained operations, coordination with partner agencies and community cooperation as important components of the region’s law-enforcement strategy.
What happens next?
The 228 suspects arrested during the latest weeklong operations are facing complaints for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, according to the police report.
The cases will now proceed through the appropriate legal process, while authorities continue investigating the sources and networks allegedly connected to the confiscated drugs.
The latest numbers underscore the continuing challenge faced by law enforcement in CALABARZON: even with repeated seizures and arrests, authorities continue to encounter suspected drug networks operating across the region.
For residents, the continuing operations also highlight the importance of reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with authorities as police and anti-narcotics agencies attempt to disrupt the supply and distribution of illegal drugs.
The weeklong operation may have removed P13.3 million worth of suspected narcotics from circulation—but the bigger question now is how deeply the networks behind those shipments extend.
