Malungon Council Benchmarks Legislative Practices With Davao City

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Officials of the Malungon Municipal Council in Sarangani visited the Davao City Council to observe its legislative proceedings and learn practices that could strengthen local governance and public service in their municipality.

The delegation, led by Malungon Councilors Erwin Asgapo and Jan Ken Escalada, attended the Davao City Council’s 36th Regular Session as part of a legislative benchmarking initiative.

During the visit, Malungon officials and staff observed how the Davao City Council conducts its sessions and manages its legislative work.

The exchange covered parliamentary rules, session management, committee operations and other procedures governing the day-to-day work of the city legislature.

The delegation sought to gain practical insights that could be adapted to Malungon’s own legislative processes.

Sharing local government practices

Beyond observing the session, the benchmarking activity was intended to identify effective practices that could improve the efficiency and responsiveness of the Malungon Municipal Council.

The Davao City Council welcomed the visiting officials and highlighted the importance of sharing institutional knowledge and experience among local legislative bodies.
